The spiriti of the ocean

The Pacific Voyagers journey, an expedition organized by the Okeanos Foundation encompassed a 20.000 mile voyage from New Zealand to San Diego and back. It aimed at raising public awareness on the protection of the marine environment and the revival of traditional Polynesian navigation. For this voyage 7 vaka, traditional Polynesian canoes, were built to cross the Pacific Ocean powered by the sun and wind, equipped with solar panels and electric engines only used when necessary. The Pacific Voyagers, a team consisting of 120 native people sailed through the islands of the Pacific Ocean: Galapagos, Fiji, Samoa, Vanuatu, Cook Islands, Tahiti, Tonga, Solomon Islands,New Caledonia, New Zealand.

Natalia Tsoukala sailed with them for almost a year.
